PETS
Our furry friends cannot make choices for themselves, so when we make choices for them, it is important to also “think eco-friendly”!
Believe it or not, cats and dogs leave a significant environmental paw print.
However, the good news is that pet companies are looking for new ways to help the environment by making their products from upcycled, recycled, and orgnanic materials.
So, here is a few ideas how to be a more sustainable pet owner:
- Recycle household items into pet toys
- Buy biodegradable cat litter and/or compostable dog poo bags
- Avoid overbuying pet products
- Dispose of waste properly
- Make homemade treats
- Spay or neuter your pets
- Don’t overfeeding your pet
Since sustainability extends further than just buying organic and sustainable things, it is important to remember that cats are a serious hazard for small wildlife.
Cats hunt birds and other animals, so it is a good idea to restrict their outdoor access at dawn and dusk when wildlife is most active.
Also, consider attaching a bell to a quick-release safety collar of your cat.
And last but not least – adopt don’t shop!
